Applications of Precipitated Silica

Adhesive

Precipitated silica is highly useful in enhancing strength of the bond and as a thickening and reinforcing agent. The highly dispersed silica particles contained within liquid adhesive will harden fast when it’s in contact with any solid surface. In synthetic and natural rubber-based adhesives both.

Silica provides reinforcement, promotes adhesion, and thixotropy, and also serves as extenders which raises the quality of the product and also lowers cost. To provide reinforcement and adjust rheology.

Silica will prevent resin separation and settling of the heavy fillers and pigments.

It also prevents excessive penetration of the adhesive into the porous adherents. Silica will improve flow control and also heat resistance of hot-melts in application. Silica also serves as a free-flowing agent for spray-dried resins.

Footwear

Dispersed silica is used a lot in shoe soles pertaining to its resistance to wear and tear, its non-scuffing characteristics to obtain compounds with the light color or even semi-transparent materials. Silica provided by the Precipitated Silica Suppliers will offer superior durability and along with improved modulus and resilience.

It acts as a white reinforcer which facilitates manufacture of colored end product.Since precipitated silica is really white in color, it will allow formulator to produce colored or translucent non-marking soles.

Solid and rubber tyres

Precipitated silica has applications in the tyre industry. Precipitated silica for tyres is used to improve tear resistance of heavy equipment and truck tyres and is used to enhance the adhesion between the rubber and the metallic reinforcement of the radial tyres.
